Douro Valley,

A Place of Steep Slopes

and Monumental

Terraces.

A landscape that portraits the story of centuries of human effort designing the geometry of vineyards and terraces, spread on the high slopes. The demarcated Douro wine region has 250.000 hectares.

Only 10% of these are classified as World Heritage by UNESCO, and both Quinta de Ceis and Quinta de Vale do Fojo are part of this exclusive group.

Schist dominates

the soils of

Douro’s region

A stone with an extraordinary heat-retaining ability during the day, gradually releasing overnight, allowing to minimize temperature variation.

Schist is also used for the black sticks, predominant and characteristic of the scarce land of old vineyards. This heritage is cherished and respected throughout our estates.
