Breathtaking settings. Historic vineyards and centennial olive groves seduced and turned our family into the latest curator of two remarkable pieces of land in the Douro Valley: Quinta de Ceis in the Cima Côrgo sub-region and Quinta de Vale do Fojo in the Douro Superior sub-region, both in UNESCO World Heritage Sites, in Portugal.

Quinta de Ceis

Quinta de Ceis is located in the northeast of Portugal, in Cima Côrgo sub-region and on the right bank of the Douro River. Between Pinhão and Peso da Régua, the heart of the winegrowing region of Douro.

This estate is located in Alto Douro Wine Region, an area classified in 2001 by UNESCO, a World Heritage Site.

QUINTA DE CEIS is inserted in the first demarcated wine region in the world. Created on September 10, 1756, during the reign of D. José I king of Portugal. An initiative of Marquis of Pombal, when the General Company of Agriculture of the Vineyards of Alto Douro was established, with tge headquarter in the city of Porto.

Quinta de Vale do Fojo

Quinta de Vale do Fojo is located in the Douro Superior sub-region, in the municipality of Vila Nova de Foz Côa, an area classified in 1998 as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO – Vale do Côa Prehistoric Rock Art Sites.

This estate is located in the most inland and eastern part of the Douro, close to the Spanish border, between the Douro and Côa rivers. Total hillside plantations are favored by a long and perfect sun exposure.

This area has a tradition in viticulture since remote times even before the arrival of the Romans.  It was integrated as a new area in Douro demarcated wine region, on 10 May 1907, by decree of João Franco, President of the Council of Ministers of King D. Carlos I.

Experiences & Lodging

Alto Douro Wine Region, UNESCO World Heritage Site and the oldest viticultural legal region in the world, deserves a relaxed visit, at any time of the year.

After a very long and careful research we were lucky to discover this forgotten place in the heart of the Douro valley. The family fulfilled the dream of returning to Douro, where, in 1820, our ancestors started viticulture and olive oil production.

In a passionate, committed and family way we are preparing differentiating experiences. Wine tourism and olive tourism, while not being the only, will be the main protagonists.

PDO Douro Wines

Most of our vineyards have certificate of official registration with more than 90 years.

In 2016 we started an intervention and recovery plan for old vines to create unique PDO Douro wines.

At the same time, we developed a program to plant new vines. We favor viticulture that respects the environment, production agents, resources and natural regulatory mechanisms. We protect soil balance by minimizing water and air pollution. Our contribution to preserve and foster the great biological diversity of our viticultural ecosystem.

In 2020, year of the celebrations of our 200 years, we began preparing the first organic PDO wines, certified, coming from our estate in the Douro Superior sub-region.

Port Wines

Port wine, a brand from Portugal, is a fortified, natural wine, produced exclusively with grapes from the demarcated Douro region, in northern Portugal.
In a stunning landscape, on terraces, on the steep slopes along the Douro River, QUINTA DE CEIS produces rare and unique indigenous grape varieties.

Our plots of old vineyards, with ideal characteristics for the production of iconic Port Wines, are part of a wonderful setting recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

Organic Olive Oils

QUINTA DE CEIS certified organic extra virgin olive oils are one of the passions of our family project. We are making efforts and implementing strategies to produce high quality organic and certified extra virgin olive oils. Also small limited editions to try to protect our century-old olive trees.

In 2018, we launched our first production of organic extra virgin olive oil, in a limited edition. That first production and all of the following ones, were internationally awarded – including the packaging and design –  in several and demanding world competitions.

Respecting the best tradition of excellence started by our ancestors in 1820.
